Has anyone in Massachusetts been able to get net access via Verizon's
fiber optic network (FIOS)? It's not available in Newburyport yet,
but I'd like to get a sense for how widespread it is in the state.
It looks like a much better value than Comcast, as the following
table shows:

Verizon FIOS 5 Mbps / 2 Mbps $ 34.95
Verizon FIOS 15 Mbps / 2 Mbps $ 44.95
Verizon FIOS 30 Mbps / 5 Mbps $179.95

Comcast 6 Mbps / 384 Kbps $ 42.95
Comcast 8 Mbps / 768 Kbps $ 52.95

I just upgraded to the higher Comcast package, but the middle
FIOS deal looks the best for me.

Hi Marc -

Have you talked to JTC? He's had FIOS for about a year now.

We're trying to get FIOS at EGH, but the distance seems to great
for them to cope with :-) (We're literally next door to the CO.)

P.S. I don't have your current email address, or I would have
replied privately with more details.

Well Jonathan's house is closer to the CO than your office is.
I wonder if FIOS is just in the high-income, largish cities and towns
like Lexington, Newton, Wellesley.
